Inequalities in Health & Illness – Essay
You are required to write an essay which analyses and evaluates the issues relating to inequalities in health and illness which are raised within the case study provided. An attempt must be made to include some conclusions and recommendations towards the end of the essay; these must link to the case study.
Your essay must include the following in relation to the issues raised in the case study:
- A discussion of the impact of social, economic and environmental developments to changes in morbidity and mortality in the UK.
- An explanation of patterned inequalities in health and illness.
- An evaluation of the sources of evidence with regards to, for example, social class, gender, ethnicity and age.
- An evaluation of the contrasting explanations for health inequalities.
- An evaluation of the relationship between theories of health and welfare inequalities and the development of health policies.

The essay should be a maximum of 1,500 words in length.
