You will write a report on the importance of play in assessment and observation and refer to the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework .
You will be required to;
• Provide a brief overview of the current play based EYFS .
• Provide a definition and evidence base for the importance of play in child development
• Describe how & why we assess .
• Describe the purpose and importance of observational techniques.
• Provide a critical perspective on the EYFS including the 2021 reforms.
This assessment will assess the following learning outcomes;
• Critically evaluate the main theoretical approaches to assessment and critically explore and apply approaches to assessment in relation to the Early Years Foundation Stage .
• Identify the significance of relevant components of the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile to develop skills in child observation.
• Acquire a working knowledge of the EYFS documents.
