At the end of this lesson, the student will be able to:
• Understand the concepts of land acknowledgments, treaties, colonialism, residential schools, missing
and murdered Indigenous women, and the TRC
• Identify their positionality and how it may shape their understanding of Indigenous rights in Canada
• Explain the systemic issues facing Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
• Articulate the importance of maintaining an intersectional lens and various types of bias when studying
equity
• Explain the methods of direct action being used to combat discrimination
