Descartes and Leibniz on the Relationship between Substances. Compare and contrast the following views about the relations between different substances: (a) Mind-Body Interaction (Descartes) and (b) Pre-Established Harmony (Leibniz). What would Leibniz say against Descartes’s theory? Why does he believe that his theory presents a more compelling picture of the relations between distinct substances? Which of these views do you think is most plausible? Or is there another – e.g. Spinoza’s monism – that you prefer? Give reasons for your preference, whatever it is.
