The purpose of this project is to conduct an assessment of organizational climate for creativity. Also, the purpose is to analyze creative leadership practices within an organization facing critical changes. The organization is the Oakland Athletics and depiction is a recent Hollywood movie – Moneyball. It was released a few years ago and stars Brad Pitt as the real life lead character Billy Beane. He is the general manager who introduced sports analytics to baseball.
The movie is widely available in local libraries (Atlanta Fulton County Library in Atlanta has a dozen or so), streaming on Amazon (for a small fee), and in local and online stores (at fairly inexpensive prices).
The article below summarizes several assessments of climate for creativity. Read the article and select either the KEYs (KEYS Assessing the Work Environment for Creativity, page 125, Table 2) or TCI (Team Climate Inventory, page 131, Table 4) assessment as the model for your paper. Look to the summary of the article and the tables listing the components. Search out additional info that describes how the assessment tool can be used to understand and guide the development of a creative climate at work. Apply this information to the situation the Oakland Athletics and Billy Beane faced when introducing sports analytics into the organization.

In your paper, make sure to develop a full report that 1) introduce the Oakland Athletics (provide some brief background info on the team history), 2) summarize the your assessment of the organization using the components of the model, and 3) identify and discuss priorities for leading and managing creativity climate in other sports organizations. Make sure you fully explain these priorities, how they would be implemented, and provide examples when describing these priorities.
Your final paper should contain 5-6 pages of written text. The paper should also be structured using the APA writing style as outlined at the OWL Purdue website for APA formatting.
