Part 1 – Week 08 Discussion 01: Moderator Specific Analysis (Team)
(Writer: I do believe the instructor will post the focus group video. I hope to share the link(s) with you shortly so you can write the main discussion post and reply 2 posts.)
Instructions
Make one constructive criticism of the moderator for each FG you participated in. In this instance, constructive criticism means providing feedback on something that could have been done better and providing advice as to how to make an improvement. Phrase your constructive criticism in a positive manner by mentioning a positive the moderator did somewhere in your feedback. MOREOVE, reply to at least two of your classmate’s posts.
Part 2 Week 08 Discussion 02: Moderator General Analysis
Instructions
You have now experienced being a participant in a FG. Reflect back on this experience and comment on the insights you gained.
Comment on two positive things moderators should try to do and on two negative things moderators should avoid doing. Briefly indicate why these were positives and negatives. These should be brief reflections, so:
1. 1-2 sentences about each positive thing.
2. 1-2 sentences about why it was positive.
3. 1-2 sentences about each negative thing.
4. 1-2 sentences about why it was negative.
So, in total: 2-4 sentences for each point. You are making 4 points, which means 8-16 sentences.
MOREOVE, reply to at least two of your classmates’ posts.
Part 3 Week 08 Assignment 01 (IMPORTANT ASSIGNMENT): Focus Group Paper (Writer: It is better to separate this paper in another file for tracking purpose)
Instructions
There are multiple different ways to present FG research. Possible options are a brief five minute PowerPoint presentation in a meeting to a top-line report [summarizes critical points typically on the issue(s) that motivated the FG delivered soon after FG completed] to a detailed report examining large and small findings.
For this assignment you will write a five page paper on the results of just the 12-minute or so FG you moderated in the format presented below. Note: the expectation is you write a paper in a research methods style.
• This means in the same style as the typical paper you have been reading in the readings for each week so far in the course.
• This means using citations to support claims, statements, facts or opinions you present. When you write the paper do not write anywhere about the “assignment” or “course/class.” Although you are writing this paper because of the course you should not mention this in the paper.
• Also, do not use the prompts listed below as questions/subheadings in your paper. For example, don’t write “Justify why you selected this issue” in the paper and then answer this question. You answer this question in the course of writing your page 1 just as the articles in the readings you read answer this question without specifically writing “justify why you selected this issue.”
• The paper should be written in Chicago style. (Remember, this means double-spaced!) In this paper and other papers in the course you should avoid stories about your personal experiences.
• Use the subheadings Method, Findings, and Discussion within your paper. Do not use the subheading Introduction but rather restate the title of your paper.
Part 4 – Week 08 Assignment 02: Moderator Reflection
Instructions
Read the constructive criticism you received from your team members who were participants in your FG and write a brief reflection (six sentences maximum) on their comments. This is six sentences overall in your entire assignment not six sentences for each comment your team member made or six sentences for each team member.
