ii. For each of the barriers identified, which appear to be ranked as most
important? Provide evidence of how you arrived at your conclusion. (2 marks)
iii. Which graph would be most useful to depict the information presented in Table

iv. Create the graph you have suggested in Part iii. Using only the first three
barriers listed (Lack of Time, Locating appropriate Information and Using
Search Techniques) as well as the information presented in Ranked 1, Ranked 2
and Ranked 3. A graph by hand is suffice. You can also use any software if you
wish. Think about how to represent the numerical information so that the

9) Psychologists have long been interested in the relationship between optimism levels and psychological well-being. As part of their study, the psychologists have accumulated data to show that there are positive effects of optimism on well-being.
Researchers investigated the relationship between optimism and psychological well-being of first-year university students using a scale developed to measure optimism and another to measure psychological well-being.
We wish to investigate how well this measure of psychological well-being could be predicted based on the measure of optimism.
i) From the scatterplot above, scribe the relationship between optimism and psychological well-being. (2 marks)
ii) Given a correlation coefficient of r = 0.80, is the magnitude and direction of this correlation consistent with your findings of part a)? Give reasons why?
