MY RESULTS AND ANSWER TO EACH QUESTION.
Interpreting your results:
Your total resistance-to-change rating is about average. You see both the advantages and disadvantages in changes and are not typically inclined to either resist or promote them. The particular characteristics of the change at hand are more likely to determine your approach towards it. As far as your approach towards routines is concerned, you don’t appear to feel very strongly about them. There are things that you like to do on a regular basis, but on occasion you like to break your routines and do something unexpected or unplanned. Your emotional reaction to changes is mild. You don’t feel too stressed in their presence, but are not entirely indifferent to them. When you think about change, although you are aware of the short-term inconvenience that may be involved, you can still see the potential long-term benefits and can therefore take them into consideration when making decisions about change. Beyond this, you rate like most people in the stability and consistency of your opinions. Although your beliefs are relatively consistent over time, you can still occasionally change your way of viewing things.
Reflect on the following:
- Do you agree or disagree with these results?
- Yes, I agree with the results
- What areas seem accurate, which do not?
- The areas that are most accurate would be the is my approach towards routines, there are things that I like to do on a regular basis, but on occasion will break up my routines to do something unexpected or unplanned. For example, I did not leave the building to eat lunch, I would bring a pack lunch. Now, I will leave and invite colleagues once a week to get our minds off work or use that time to discuss a plan of work. It has made the workplace less stressful and shortens the daily routine of work.
- Give an example of a change situation in which you were recently involved. Did you resist? Why or why not? What was the ultimate outcome?
- My role as a college advisor will change soon. I was notified, that we will be viewing data and determine the graduation rate for high school students. One person from each high school will track student’s college interest, career goal, and college acceptance.
- I am really excited to do something different because I have been in the same role for over 20 years. I am looking forward to this new role as it is a beginning of a new process for the organization.
- This role is new for our district as I am increasing my work load. (responsibilities and accountability) This situation ties right into my assessment, I do not feel stressed about the change as many do. I can still see the potential long-term benefits and can therefore take them into consideration when making decisions about change.
- I will be among the first group to bringing about change in the public-school district.
