You could observe different settings and see how many people are wearing masks. Does it change depending on the place they go, where they are, etc? Also, do people who are not wearing masks observe other social distancing rules? like staying 6 feet apart? You could speak to some of the people, for example, store customers, as well as store employees. Find out to what extent their views reflect their behavior. For example, an employee might be opposed to masks in general, but wears one because the employer requires it. etc.
