Critically analysis on Socialization (1600 words – 2/3 on theory; 1/3 on application)
• Define organizational socialization, 2 definitions widely separated
• Using timeline approach explain how socialization takes place –pre/informal/formal. Mention desocialisation/socialization as part of this discussion.
• Discuss 4 socialization models
o Van Maanen & Schien six dimensions of socialization
• Don’t forget that these models are all really old, do they still apply in today’s world/ E.g. the number of women working, in the 70s / 80s it was job for life, now jobs change every couple of years.
• Impact of Covid 19 ???
Critically analysis on Behaviour modification (1600 words – 2/3 on theory; 1/3 on application) – ‘obmod’
• Define behaviour modification, 2 definitions widely separated – look@contentserver.pdf; 257174.pdf?@possibly; 40967074.pdf@possibly;
• Discuss 4 models of behaviour modification
• Positive reinforcement
• Negative reinforcement
• Punishment
• Extinction
• Hierarchy of effectiveness https://m.iaabc.org/about/lima/hierarchy/
Ethical usage of these techniques as a transformational manager (500w)
• Are these the correct ethical frameworks? The two most prevalent models are Rest’s (1986) fourcomponent model for individual ethical decision-making and Jones’ (1991) Issue-Contingent Model, which synthesized the previous ethical decision-making models and used Rest’s (1986) model as a foundation – the key point is that ethical people will probably doing this anyway and will an ethical framework really deter a toxic manager / corporate psychopath ???
• Discuss dark side of culture manipulation.
• Include Skinner theory on starving animals + homogenous population.
• Explore real business case examples which have acted unethically.
