Written Assignment – Prospective Quality Improvement Initiative Paper
Overview: The Prospective Quality Improvement Paper provides the student an opportunity to define, measure, analyze, improve, and then explore evaluation of a prospective health care quality improvement plan. This paper will provide the opportunity for students to apply principles of quality improvement methods and tools; performance measures, safety principles, and standards related to quality within the healthcare organization and identify the ability to be an effective leader and agent of change. The Prospective Quality Improvement Paper is a 6-8-page paper (excluding the title and reference pages). References and scholarly web-based resources will be used to support this paper.
Suggestions: Projects maybe either in process at a healthcare organization or can be formulated by the student as a possible quality improvement issue for their healthcare organization. Remember this is only a proposal of quality improvement and does not need to be initiated or completed for this class. Topics may include reduction of medication errors or falls, any improvement in national patient safety goals or hospital acquired conditions. Topics may also include decreasing Emergency Department wait times or improving patient hand off reporting.
Diagrams and flow charts maybe included for clarity but are not necessary. If included, please add the diagrams as appendices.
