Directions:
Self-care for the student as well as the educator is critical to building the resiliency needed to cope with traumatic events. Complete the 5 play cards attached. These have prompts to guide your reflections for each play card. Use these reflections as well as the Act on it sections of each play card to inform the final project “To create a resilience classroom plan”. Your reflections should be submitted in narrative form. Consider the tips for writing your reflections below. Your reflections should be more than a summary of what is found in each play card.
Tips for writing your reflections
1. Focus on the areas which pose the most problems or difficulty in addition to those which are less problematic.
2. Write, record describe the scenario (the course, the context, environmental scan)
o Reflect, think about What are your reactions?
o What are your feelings?
o What are the good and the bad aspects of the situation?
o What you have learned?
3. Analyze, explain, gain insight
o What was really going on?
o What sense can you make of the situation?
o Can you integrate theory into the experience/situation?
o Can you demonstrate an improved awareness and self-development because of the situation?
4. Conclusions
o What can be concluded in a general and specific sense from this situation/experience and the analyses you have undertaken?
o Personal action plan What are you going to do differently in this type of situation next time?
o What steps are you going to take on the basis of what you have learned?
