For the critical commentary look at unpicking the question and specific focus of the question:
How does the question relate to ethical theories that we have discussed/covered?
You should aim to relate the underpinning ideas and the principles you can identify (principles of justice, freedom, autonomy, fairness, equality etc..)
What are the arguments presented that support the claims being made?
Looking at the arguments, do the arguments seem plausible, or reasonable? Are they justified well?
What are the implications for practice (education) – what would this mean? How would the claims made work – can you imagine ways to argue in favour or against what is suggested (thinking of possible counter arguments)?
Explain your reasons with arguments you can make and support from your reading. Again, key readings and wider readings help to provide rich arguments and give more ways to show you are able to present a critical commentary that has engaged critically with ideas and arguments from the literature.
