Personal Statement: This statement should describe how the incident and court proceedings affected you. You don’t need to admit guilt, but the letter should acknowledge some responsibility and show what you learned from the experience. You should also explain why you need the early expunction and explain why you want to be in law enforcement. A good personal statement is about 400-600 words (keep in mind the attention span of a prosecutor who has tons of cases — we want to make our point strongly but concisely).
