You are required to write a 1000 words report (+/- 10%) examining and explaining the impacts on staff of a change in business practice of British Airways. You are to examine and explain how staff are impacted by a decision taken by the airline, taking into account the specific staff roles in British Airways. The decisions you may want to consider are the following: growth or decline of the activity, new products or markets, change of structure, change of services, responding to competition, responding to a major crisis, etc… The impacts on the staff you may want to consider are motivation, staff turnover, performance, conflict, illness, absenteeism, skills, training needs, etc….
Make your own research on the history of British Airways, and use examples of a decision that your firm took in its recent past. Annual Reports, and the presentations of the members management board in the Annual Report or the Activity Report could be used
In your written report, the weighting will be the following: – Ability to clearly identify and explain the decision that is being made by British Airways – Ability to explain why British Airways has taken this decision – Ability to explain the implications of the decision on different types of airline staff – Ability to explain what actions would be taken to minimize the negative impacts on staff and maximize the positive effects – Grammar, writing spelling – Referencing

Students will be expected to synthesize the themes explored during the entirety of the unit for this assessment. Students will apply their understanding to a situation faced by a company of their choice and how this impacts the way people are managed. |
