This draft is not an argumentative essay, in that it lacks a thesis and meanders from one very vague thought to another. It also fails to be a lens essay because you barely touch on McCloud’s theories and tools, and when you do (such as in the case of icons)you cannot explain them clearly or apply them correctly to the exhibit source, “Watchmen.”

My advice is to start over. Reread the books so that you understand them fully, and approach the project in a simpler way: pick one element, trace the pattern that emerges when that element is used throughout the text, and build your argument about what it means from the evidence you have at hand.
