The aim of the paper is to investigate questions about how social science and pedagogical research can be conducted in the field of International and comparative education and demonstrate advanced knowledge of educational research methods with special focus on questions of how collected data can be analyzed. In the course paper assignment the student shall develop and discuss her or his understanding on how data can be analysed according to literature on research methodology. The student will need to demonstrate in line with a specific example how such an analysis can be conducted.
In the assignment the following questions need to be discussed and argued for:
– Why is a specific methodological approach and a method of analysis promising in relation to an overall research purpose and according to a specific research tradition?
– How can exemplified data (your own collected or secondary) be analysed in detail according to the chosen tradition and why is this more promising than other possible choices?
– How are quality criteria for the chosen study considered including research ethics?
Over and above embedding aspects of critical literacy, clear argumentation, skillfull reference technique and the academic style of writing the paper will be of utmost importance. Course Paper Length and Word count The course paper should be between 2500 and 3500 words in length. Course papers that are shorter or longer than the prescribed range will be affected in their grading. All text in the paper, with the exception of table of contents, list of abbreviations, appendices/annexes, and the reference list, are included in the word count.
