Assignment:
The assignment – there are 3 parts to the assignment. All three parts are to be submitted on the final submission date through TURNITIN and hard copy in class.
Part 1:
Keep a brief reflective journal honestly signalling your experiences during the Creative Skills module. This journal will aim to show the student’s experiences, their learning and any insights that the student experienced during the module. The journal can include any strengths, challenges or lessons taken from the creative classes. It should contain students’ reflections on the effect that the creative processes may have had for them in their professional capacity within social care
Include six entries in your submission.
Percentage Weighting: 20%
Part 2:
Design a workshop for a social care setting of your choice detailing at least TWO creative arts activities e.g. Children’s residential, Day care for people with Intellectual disability, Third Age community (elderly groups). Take into consideration Group work theory when developing the plan i.e. Kurland, (2001) Malekoff (2015)
The plan should be typed under the following headings.
- Section A: Pre-Planning Stages
- Section B: The Proposal, what Creative activities do you intend to focus on and why
- Section C: The Implementation
- Section D: The Evaluation
The workshop should include:
Pre-Planning:
- Consideration of the group profile, group needs and orientation, possible challenges
- Observations and questions that are important to consider in running of a session for the
particular target group/individual
- Additional factors you considered in your pre-session planning (400 words approx)
The Plan:The Workshop
- Workshop description: (A brief Summary i.e. group, location, etc.)
- Objectives: (Clear understanding of overall objectives and rationale for the group)
- Agenda and Activities: Include a detailed step by step description of TWO creative arts
activities. The TWO creative arts chosen must be detailed with regard to their theoretical
relevance and benefits in a social care setting.

Evaluation:
- Consider how you would evaluate the creative interventions implemented, identifying the
following:
- How did the group/individual respond
- Were there goals and objectives met or could you identify new goals or what were the
challenges or emerging issues during the sessions
(450 Words approx)

Part 3: Article/Theory Review
Each student will then choose a related article/theory in relation to your chosen cohort and explore how it will/has informed your creative workshop.
(800 words approx.) Percentage Weighting 20%
Format: Size 12 font, Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing, justified.
Word Count: 3,000 words (excluding references).
Referencing: Use Harvard method of referencing and be consistent throughout. Please include a bibliography of cited texts and refer to IT Carlow’s policy on plagiarism.
