For their Admissions Criteria please visit http://www.uwindsor.ca/law/343/our-admissions-criteria for more information.
They have 4 questions regarding the application, I have submitted a 4 pages request, please write each question using 1 page. I have attached my application resume to help you get a better picture of me.
Starting with a general introduction of my background, I am a Chinese immigrant moved to Canada with my family when I was 12. A few years later, my parents went back due to family obligations, so I spend most of my time in Canada alone, living with my guardians, which usually are my parent’s friends. I don’t know if that was tough, but it was definitely a remarkable period of time in my life, which build my independency from a very early age. Since I am super familiar with the feeling of been an immigrant/alone at somewhere that one is not very familiar with, I had a decent association with international department and volunteered a lot for the school (you’ll see more details in the resume).
During my undergrad years at U of T, I decided to study economic and statistics, I worked in many different fields try to find what’s the best fit for me, automobile, real-estate, mortgage, etc. By obtaining all kinds of experiences I found myself an entrepreneur in the later school year. Although I learned some lesson by the hard way, but I got plenty hands-on experience in both virtual and real economy sectors.
Throughout these experiences, I found that many people does not get the legal system in Canada (don’t quote on me if I am wrong, maybe it’s just an immigrant thing?), these people includes the general public (mostly customers), some small even medium size business owners, some individual appears to know what they are doing and simply taking advantages over others, and myself too. It seems like that profession is admirable and only belongs to the middle class and above. It is mysterious and unreachable for general public, most of the people that is serious in needs usually are not getting help, because it is expensive and sometimes people are afraid of lawyers and do not have faith in it (I have 2 stories I have seen, one involves a fraudulent incident when someone pretend he is a lawyer, and another one involves business failure involving lacking knowledge in cooperate law. I can provide more details if you think is necessary to write about it.) . I took the paralegal graduate certificate program to get a better understanding of how this profession is like, and I like it. After working as the intern, I liked the feeling when you proves help when people needs it, simple as a traffic ticket dispute and complex as a refugee claim, something that would affect their life forever. So, I would like to proceed in this profession, to break this mysterious sense of cognition for this occupation, since legal assistance are always around, ready to help.
My university grades was not very high (2.97/4.0) because my focused attention was not in academic at that time, but I think I can demonstrate my ability to academic works through the Paralegal course of study. I am not sure if is appropriate to mention this in the essay, but is just something for the writers to know. In relation to all the work I have done, is either stated in the resume or is general expectation of what that job is like, writer can be creative within the reasonable limit, but feel free ask me anything about myself if you feel needs to.
The following questions are from the University of Windsor, please respond to each using approx. 275 words.
- Why do you want to study law at the University of Windsor? Using examples, explain how your academic, personal and/or work experiences have contributed to your development as an individual and prepared you for the study of law.
Associates with the academic personal and work experience I have talked about above, I guess what contributed can be hard work, real dedication, or anything like that.
- Have you been involved in community engagement or other activities that may assist in a future career as an ethical, justice-seeking lawyer? Please describe any experience, skills, or interests you have that reflect Windsor Laws Mission, Vision and Values as stated above.
I have my activities listed in my resume, feel free to use anything that might be relevant, I guess at the end just explain that I will be a good person? LOL
- Are there any other extra-curricular experiences, skills or interests other than your university program, work experience or community work as previously outlined that you believe will assist you in the pursuit of legal studies?
I guess we can talk about the mooting experience? Been a public advocate, and etc. I have skills and interests in computer science and game design as well (like 3D Character modeling), don’t know if that’s going to help.
- Windsor Law is committed to ensuring equity and diversity in all its forms in the legal profession. Please share any information on your background and perspectives that you believe will further our goal and will diversify and enrich our law school community and the legal profession.
I am not sure what is the equity been asked here, immigrant? Ethnicity? Diversity I think they meant entrepreneur? Economic? Statistic? Computer science? Honestly just anything that’s going to be appropriate, I think the writer will have a better idea of what this is.
PS – Try to do your best job on this, I am not doubting your ability nor professionalism, is just that I have a few other school applications with similar questions but from a slightly different perspective, and exact same facts (my background story). So if I submit other orders later, it is going to be very easy and fast.
