The course is assessed by an essay of 5,000 – 5,500 words, including all footnotes, but excluding your bibliography.
Refer to the MHRA system for the use of references (as footnotes at the bottom of the page or pooled at the end of the essay as endnotes), which should be numbered continuously throughout.
