Research Assignment:
In a research paper, explore an issue that is important and specific to your immediate area (your town or state). Then research what others have noted about this topic at a national level and explain who the stakeholders are. Persuade your reader what should be done about this.
In order to complete the research paper, you will produce a 2,000 word paper with five to seven sources, half of which are academic. One source must be about the issue locally.
How to use your annotated bibliography:
Your annotated bibliography will help you to gather your sources and establish how to research this topic specifically.
Note: Eventually, some people end up chopping out a source they’ve found for the annotated bibliography because it lacks usefulness once they get writing. In addition, often people find that they should go out and find more sources and more information. This is okay. In fact, this is a good thing. Be flexible. Be brave enough to change your mind.
Where to go from here:
-Plan your paper well by using your thesis to guide your argument.
-Remember to focus on logic over ethos and pathos here. Research depends on logos.
-Remember to fully discuss every point. Each paragraph should have a full understanding of the stakeholders involved, necessary context, and how it fits into your argument.
-As you write, use your outline well for you and how you write. This means stay flexible, but remember what is expected here.
-Remember we need research tone here to control your voice and professionalism. This means, you will not use “I” in this paper.
-Don’t forget the necessities of in-text citations, works cited, controlled tone and wordiness.
