3. Individual Assessment (40%): Critical Essay
Background
Using the schematic below, and applying it to an organisation of your choice, answer the
following question:
• How can the framework for management, leadership and change be used to guide
organisational change?

The report should be 2000 words in length (+/- 10%) and it comprises 40% of total course
marks.
When writing your essay, remember to pay attention to the following aspects: clarity of the
understanding of the framework in terms of challenges and tensions between different
approaches; ensure that your discussion is supported by evidence and appropriate
examples; show good knowledge of relevant theories; include coherent logic and flow of
arguments; ensure good presentation of your paper, including appropriate use of
referencing.
